VirusBursters Removal Tool and the MySpace Content Viewer
How I Got Screwed on MySpace
…Don’t Fall Into The Same Trap!
The other day, I received an email from MySpace that mentioned a new friend request. It was some user named ‘Mai’. From the picture, she looked honest and since I’m kind of new on MySpace…I wasn’t thinking that I could easily get screwed over.
So I accepted her friend request and then clicked on her profile. Some MySpace.com Content Viewer box came up and I thought that it was something special (I later found out that it also installs a trojan virus).

I guessed that she was some advanced user since it prompted me to download a file called MySpaceContent.exe (also called MSviewer.exe) to view her profile. I thought it was a plugin like Flash, but for MySpace. So I downloaded it and then….
My firewall started to pick up tons of intruder alerts. There was a program called Virus Bursters that had infiltrated my system.
So what does it do? It installed a few icons on my toolbar saying that I have a virus. I clicked on it and it goes to the virusbursters.com website to buy the program (it was an affiliate link …lol). I did more investigation and some websites claim that this MySpaceContent.exe file also has trojans in it and possibly keyloggers (these are also referred to as Malware). If it does, your privacy could be at stake.
So to remove it, I searched around on the net. As usual, a recommendation is to avoid using Microsoft Internet Explorer. Hackers love to play with Microsoft programs and it’s safer if you use another browser like Firefox or Opera.
So then I compared various virusbuster removal tools and found that NoAdware was on top of it. It’s pretty fast at scanning through files and registry entries on your system. You just click on a button and then remove them afterwards. You can visit the NoAdware site to find out more.
